Washington State’s “Puppy Mill” Bill Passed!

Beginning January 1, 2010, dogs in certain breeding facilities will have protections they have never had before. The Washington State Legislature enacted ESSB 5651 “Providing humanitarian requirements for certain dog breeding practices.” Violation of this law constitutes a gross misdemeanor.

“Seraphina’s Bill” Passed.

SSB 5402 was named after a rescued dog that survived severe neglect by her guardian prohibits people convicted of felony animal cruelty or repeated animal cruelty violations at any level from owning similar animals in the future. This law is in effect July 26 of this year.
